Protect AU Data When Working From Home

Using the VPN Service

Do you work from home? Do you travel often? The Office of Information Technology recommends using a service called VPN, which stands for Virtual Private Network. The VPN provides you with a user-friendly way to connect securely back to AU resources, ensuring that all of your data traveling to and from your computer is protected from prying eyes.

Similar to your on campus experience, the system will perform a health check of your computer before granting access to the Network. If there are required remediation efforts, the system will provide guidance.

Once your computer is connected to the VPN, it is recognized as an AU computer, allowing you to connect to AU restricted resources, all of your standard network drives, and printers. Your computer will also benefit from the additional security protections provided by the AU intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems (IPS/IDS).

Instructions for connecting to the VPN are available online below:

Please Note: 64-bit web browsers are not supported on the AU VPN. Most standard browsers are 32-bit, however if you are using a 64-bit browser you may experience login issues.
